Hi, sorry if this is posting in someone else's thread, I can't post normally. Im in the armed services and I had a credit card with MBNA. They bumped my limit up to $10,000 a few years ago, and were even sending me blank checks to use. Needless to say, this debt got out of hand and now I owe ~9,800 bucks. The debt has since been given to this certain "law firm" who calls me at work, home, cell phone even calls my commanders office demanding this be settled. My commander told the collector this was a civil matter and there was nothing they could do. I live in Texas and was just wondering, short of bankruptcy, what should I do? I thought about sending a cease and desist letter to them. What are the repercussions? Any info will be appreciated. Great site, btw, lots of great info.
