First, please change your Dad's phone number so they can't call him.

Second, tell them to only write to him= that will cut down on the lies and harrassment.

Third, your Dad seems to be judgment proof. Stop paying Providian.

I can not advise on the checking account, but probably best to close it altogether as they already have the number.

Someone else may be able to recommend a procedure for handling the check. You can get it back, but it is a real hassle.
