You say you last paid Cap1 2 years ago?? Were you up to date on your account at that time?

What is the date of charge-off showing on your credit report?

You can try for a mediated settlement at the hearing, this means the mediator helps you figure out what you can afford and you sign an agreement to pay, if you don't pay, then a judgment is entered.

You should appear and make sure the CA lawyer has proof of your debt, including how they arrive at the balance due. If the $$ amount they are claiming is substantially higher than what your credit limit was, you should request a complete accounting of interest and other fees.

If you live in a trailer, IT IS YOUR HOMESTEAD!! The exemption is $3,500 net equity figured at a wholesale value.
