Tazi,

You're correct about the 30 days before final judgment to file notice of appeal, because that is the case also in IL. However, if you allow the procedures to go further (such as in making installment payment arrangements with the court), you WAIVE YOUR RIGHT TO APPEAL!

Stating your intent gives the court notice that you are not participating in any further court procedures, and allows you to leave gracefully. I guess it's better than saying "H*** no, your Honor, I ain't payin' the b*****d one red cent." (grin)
