First let me apologize as this will be somewhat lengthy. I live in Las Vegas, NV. Last year late July I took an $8,000.00/yr cut in pay due to cutbacks. I contacted all of my credit cards to let them know that I would be having some immediate financial difficulties antil I could get settled with the new wage. They said that because I had never been late and never missed a payment that they did not have a "program" that would work for me. They said that I had to be so many months behind for that. The two Citi Bank cards immediately charged them off. So on my credit report I was current with everything then WHAM! Chargeoffs. My credit rating went from the 700's to the 500's. I then turned to a company called US Financial Management for consolidating my credit cards. Then the first of September I was hit by a drunk driver and injured my back. I lost my job and have had back surgery. I called USFM to find what could be done and they said no worries just write a hardship letter and we will take care of it. I was then served at my home with two summons from two lawyers of two of the credit cards. I sent them o USFM as instructed. Then I received two judgements from the two. I sent those to USFM as well. One has now siezed my checking and savings and garnished my wages at my former employer as I no longer work there, there is nothing to collect. The other is threatening to lien my home. I have come to find that USFM has not contacted any of my creditors since 11-06-03. They have also paid NOTHING to any of them. I will be out of work for at least another 6 months for recovery. Unfortunately the drunk driver was not insured, had no license, no SS# and has vanished. I am considering selling my house to settle these debts and start over. Of course there are more details but I figured you would get the picture and this was long enough as it was. Am I screwed? Any advise?

Thank you,
Scared, lost and confused
