To answer all of your questions, you really need to talk with a lawyer. Most lawyers will give you 30 minutes of free legal advice to decide if you have need for their service. IF you did, indeed, designated this outfit as your POA and they have abused their power, the lawyer will advise you of what steps you need to take. He may recommend that you talk with the District Attorney where you live in regards to prosecuting the scumbags for fraud and embezzlement. The lawyer may also find that you have grounds to sue for damages in addition to recovering the money that you've already paid.
