I'm not sure of WA's laws, check Why Chat's website. Also small claims court is different. I had a very nice list of interrogatories I wanted to send them before I found out I couldn't in small claims, I also could not file a Motion for Dismissal without going to court so I thought I'd put it in my answer and hope to see them there.

Good luck. P.s. I think most courts usual procedure is that they assign a hearing date when the appearances are file - check with the clerk where you filed. They should have automatically given you a hearing date - it's usually 14 days after the appearance is filed.
