If you don't recognize the account listed on your
credit report, then write to the credit bureau
involved (there will be an address given for disputes
somewhere on the report), and tell them that you
don't know whose account this is. Also tell them
that, if anyone at the creditor/collection agency
confirms that this is yours, then you want to have
the name and address of that person.

If the item is confirmed, and if you receive the
information on who confirmed it, then contact
them and ask for details. Do this in writing,
NOT by telephone.
