It would seem to me that an attorney would be interested in filing a class action suit against this company. Upon filing, he would be able to get the names of all other individuals who have been contacted by this company, thus adding other names to the suit. The FTC itself should probably institue such a suit. That it is why it is so important for people to complain to proper agencies. In New York state we have an attorney general who is very responsive and who is truly there for the residents. These kinds of companies continue to do what they do because so many people just give up. They count on this. I have no doubt people have paid them money they do not even owe, just to get free and clear their credit reports.
If you live in a state that allows it, record them. Send all mail registered. Write to the FTC and send a copy to Gulf. Every time they call, write the FTC and your local and state officials. This is what works!!!
