I received a settlement letter in the mail yesterday stating I have an outstanding debt from 1989. The original date was $4,800. The settlement letter from the collection agency has been reduced.
I feel this is ridiculous since the debt is over 12 years old.
I am worried that this will appear on my credit report. My credit has been perfect for 8 years now. Does anyone know the statute of limitations.
