I have just been informed that I owe 160 dollars to Gulfstate. This amount showed up on my credit report when I applied for a townhouse. I have purchased a car, and rented an apartment for over 2 years with no bad credit showing on my report. Gulfstate said that this amount was from Dec.96, and here is the kicker, it was posted in March of 2001. If you have their number, or any information that could be of use, please e-mail as soon as possible. Lets take these guys down.
Thanks.

: I, too, have found two items on my credit report that are
: attributed to Gulf State Credit. When I tried to talk to
: them, they were rude and uncooperative. This seems to be
: the case with many other people who have posted messages
: here.

: Gulf State Credit should be severely reprimanded at the ver
: least. It appears that they just arbitrarily find an old
: debt or even create something where nothing exists just
: to try and collect some money. I'm sure that there are
: many people out there who simply pay off the small amounts
: just so they don't have to hassle with it but can you imagine
: how much Gulf State is making by doing this?

: At what point does the FTC do something about this (i.e.
: investigate and reprimand)? If we all send in complaints,
: will that help?
