Charge offs and statute of limitations

I received an "offer" in the mail today from a credit card company informing me that; "If you accept this offer, we'll transfer your former charged-off account balance of $XXXX.XX in to your new So and So Visa account, for which you will receive one monthly statement".

This item has been removed from my credit history and the company who holds the charged-off account was notified almost a year ago that the statute of limitations in my state for credit card debt had long expired. I was also informed by a representative of So and So Visa that there is no statute of limitations on debt and this debt will stay with me for the rest of my life. I made sure to get his name and employee number. What recourse do I have? I don't need to "rebuild" my credit, as my recent credit history is spotless and I have all the credit I need.
