Most safe deposit boxes have two locks require two keys to open. The bank has one, and the customer has the other.

If the customer loses their keys, the bank must pay a locksmith to open the box and change the customer lock. That is what the $125 fee was for. "Drill status" implies that the lock had to be removed with an electric drill - basicly the locksmith had to break into the box.

It is rather odd that they waited so long to debit your account - it seems like something they should have done immediately. Maybe the box wasn't used in all that time, and then recently they needed it to rent to another customer, and finally got around getting it fixed.
