In Kansas a Collection Agency or Lawyer doesn't have to have, didly squat. They will sue and they will win if you let it get into court. Believe me I know! I'm in Kansas! If you send a stern Validation and Cease and Desist your better off, because a Lawyer group in Kansas will sue. A good example of that is that I got sued on a Providian account from Cohen, Mcneil, Pappas and Shuttleworth. I was naive about validation and the FDCPA in those days. I since got a threat letter from Cohen, Mcneil, Pappas and Shuttleworth on a Discovery account. I sent them a strongly worded validation and Cease and Desist and they have disappeared for almost 3 years now.
