The statute states that OTHER types of contracts are five years. Credit cards fall under the "other" category because they do not meet the statutory definition of a "written account." It is through the process of elimination that you arrive at that conclusion.

Follow Why Chat's instructions on how to answer a debt past the SOL. It explains the legal reasoning behind this. You will not find case law or a specific statute in IL regarding credit card accounts.

The plaintiff attorney's will try to sell you the garbage that it is a written contract. Don't buy it, because even they will fold if you construct your written answer correctly and hold your ground.
