Why Chat didn't recommend contesting improper service, because most judges seem to be of the mold that if you got the summons, you got notice. ::shrug:: I see their point, but I also have issues with allowing garbage debt-buyers giving lip-service to the law. Sticking a summons on your door where personal service is required by law, then lying and saying you gave it to someone in the household, is unconsionable. And if you show up in court, the judge will still send you down to the clerk to fill out the appearance form. That's their paycheck, you know. ;-) So it all boils down to getting your hind end downtown and preparing for battle. I chose to go in with an attitude of "I'll pay when every judge from here to the Appellate court SAYS I have to pay." It worked.
