Hard to say. Remember, Rufus "Bud" "The Dean of Bad Debt" Reitzel, founder of Assxxxx, served a hitch in the Army during the Cold War, when quiet probing of an enemys' defenses became an art form.
First, Assxxxx makes two unproven assertions, unable to locate customer. Who sez you are their 'customer'? Who sez they can't find you? They found your credit report, didn't they? Sounds like they're trying to get your attention, draw you out, and trip you up.
Didn't work. They change their story - like criminals - claim they found you. They've probably always known your whereabouts.
Your obtaining your credit report might have piqued their interest. Maybe they assumed you were opening new charges, applying for a mortgage or car note, thus acquiring something for them to go after.
A good Cold Warrior is inconsistently inconsistent. They probe your defenses, seeking an expected reaction? Don't give them one. Lay low. If they keep coming, lay low. If they sue, they'll assume you will lay low. Don't. Unleash legal hell. Meanwhile, don't pull your credit report. Use cash. Avoid credit.
