Your state usury laws may not be worth dookie, but I assure you that the OC has to abide by them. Otherwise, you'd have been paying AMEX (or any other OC) 200% compounded daily.

By the way, Amex will drop their unholy interest rates back to prime if you catch up and continue to make minimum payments over a year or so on time. If you continue to be in arrears, yes, they will charge off the account.
