They can only sue in your home county

15 U.S.C. § 1692i(a)(2) says a debt collector may "bring such action only in the judicial district or similar legal entity -

(A) in which such consumer signed the contract sued upon; or

(B) in which such consumer resides at the commencement of the action."

Since you live there and made the contract there, that's the only place they can sue you.

If they're telling your relatives about your debt, that's a slam dunk violation of § 1692c(b), "a debt collector may not communicate, in connection with the collection of any debt, with any person other than the consumer, his attorney, a consumer reporting agency if otherwise permitted by law, the creditor, the attorney of the creditor, or the attorney of the debt collector."
