You are judgement proof. It costs money to sue, and these collection agencies deal with hundereds, probably thousands of accounts each year. So, it just doesn't make a lot of sense for them to sue on something they can not collect on. Of course, there are no guarantees. I had 13 unsecured cards, one sued very close to the SOL. I filed bk. Bk would definitely be an option for you if they did sue. I would try to wait it out though. Just protect your banking info. If you are served, DON'T IGNORE IT. Don't let them get a default judgement so, if you defend, no knowledge of this debt or this amount, they will fold. They are looking for the easy default judgement. Never acknowledge the debt, (best not to talk to them at all)less stressfull too. It is up to them to prove the debt and the amount of debt in court if they sue and you defend.
