No, CA can not sue for sending a validation letter. However, if you send a validation letter on an account that is within SOL the CA might sue because they think you give a hoot. You want CAs to think you are judgement proof, don't give a hoot about your credit report. Give them the impression that you don't have anything they can seize, and don't much care what they do. There is a lot of psychology in debt collection. CAs often files piles of law suits at the same time, gambling that the debtor will not show up and they will get a default judgement. My tactic was to Ignore CA phone calls and letters. That way, I did not piss off anyone, so that they would be out to get me. Didn't accidently give them info. Din't accidently acknowlwdge the debt was mine. They are more likely to move onto easier targets. Just my 2 cents.
