to at least speak with an attorney, even if you don't hire one. WHY, because CAs are merciless, They will bleed you dry if you let them. If you offer a 100, they will figure that if you can pay 100 you can pay 200. You need to get your money back. If you are behind on mortgage payment, heck, I wouldn't offer them anything. You are judgement proof. By law, they can not seize your money. It can take some time, but that money is exempt.
