my daughter has 2 judgements who have never tried collecting. they have nothing and they know it. . but should they ever buy a house or win the lotto, you can bet they will show up. im quite sure they are watching her bank accounts. as young as she is, she will have something some day. she just needs to watch to see if its renewed or not. and yes, it messes up your credit. punishes you , in effect.
