I had asked last week for Tx Bk advice and I thank everyone that answered. We have decided to go with the bk because I am really ready to get this all over with and I don't want to hide out anymore. I need to be able to concentrate on my family instead of having this debt and CA's popping in my head. Here are a few more questions: Cat - You said that you went with the Chapter 7 bk, Did any of the creditors try to accuse you of fraud? I had read that is something that creditors can do with Chapter 7. We were not attempting fraud, we just hit bad times but just wondering if they would accuse us. Also, you said that your lawyer screwed you - what did he do and how can I make sure we get a trustworthy lawyer? As far as I can tell from what I read, we don't have anything that they can take. Everything is exempt because we don't own much. We do have some money in savings (about 2 weeks pay) that we are saving in case of another lay-off. Is that money safe? And does bk affect our tax returns in the future? Usually by that time of year we need that extra money for home repairs and such. That is all I can think of for now. Believe me, I will probably be back to ask more or just to get some reassurance. This is such a big step! Thank you all for your time!
