uderstanding trw&creditors

I recieved my trw.I payed off my cards that were late.one of my report says closed by grantor.Does that mean its a charge off even through I payed it off in full.And it also dated the date they close it.when I call for the balance it was even less then they ask for.Now other card company I call to get the balance for ask for more then what it said in a letter and a statement and on my trw.The letter and trw and the statement were all asking for the same amount.I call back to ask why did I pay more.I was told it was the collection agency that charge me extra $268.00.I was never sent a letter from any collection agency I made the payment to the same place I had always made my payments to.And on the trw it does not have a closing date like the others and it does not even say anything about my account being close or charge off.My payment to them and my trw report are 8 days apart.Do they owe me back my $268.00.I dont want to call to ask again because I know for a fact that I wont get anywhere.
