How much is owed on the Chase account is usually the determining factor in what Chase will do. It also depends on whether it is a primary account or joint account. IF your friend's father has a large estate, they could possibly place a lien on the estate; however, that us very unlikely. Considering the medical expenses involved, it would probably be considered a hardhip case and upon his death, Chase MAY charge it off..... unless it's a joint account. THEN the surviving cardholder would be responsible for the debt.
