640 is good enough.. you'll want 720 or better to get the best rates, tho.

remember car dealers will pretend that they are giving you the best rate, but there actual goal is to get the best deal FOR THEM, not FOR YOU.

I bought a car last year, and unknowingly got a 21% rate loan...then refinanced it a month later for 9.9%...my score was lower than yours.

You are in the 'fair' credit bracket...most people's credit is better than yours, but your credit is high enough, that it is not in the highest risk bracket that would warrant such an absurd interest rate.

so to re-iterate....yes, a lot of people with your credit do pay that high amount, and they will try to stick you with it...but shop around and find a better rate.
