The problem with settlement offers is they want that whole amount RIGHT NOW or they will "go back " on the deal and make you pay the whole thing (at really high monthly payments). It's hard to come up with that much money. If I had it in the first place, I wouldn't be in debt!! (Or not as bad, anyway):->
Does anyone here work with Financial Rescue Service aka National Consumer Council?? Well, they are being sued by the Federal Trade Commission because they are causing people financial RUIN instead of helping their situations. I have scrambled like crazy to get a "stop payment" to their "temporary reciever" (a trust account they do an ACH on my checking account every month) so I could turn around and give that amount to Wolpoff and Abramson over two very deliquent MBNA accounts (they [MBNA] are such hard ***'s!!) I was with FRS for 18 months, so my creditors didn't recive a dime all that time. The one account they settled was for 35%; I had to pay them 25% of the balance and then I find out (via FTC's site) that it will be a negative on my credit report that Bank One "settled for less than the full amount"!! You can go to www.ftc.com for more info. Write me back, anybody!!
