You are dealing with a scum collector. I think another poster gave you the run down on them. Since you are so close to the SOL, just lie low. If they are going to sue you, it must be in N.C. If you have assets that are not exempt, they might sue, but even if they do, the burden of proof in on them. They must prove that the debt and charges are yours and are correct. Not likely that these CAs can do that. I think you would know if you had been sued because you would have been served with a summons. You might want to call your local courthouse and see if a civil suit has been filed against you. I don't think so, but I think you need the peace of mind. 3 in 1 reports are (from what I have read) not very good, so I would still check individaully with the other two CRs. I don't think you have a lot to worry about at this point. The phone calls have stopped, I hope you did not talk to them. They have probably moved on. There is a poster here named "Avenger" and he is an attorny who practices in N.C. and Forodia. http://www.fairdebtlawyer.com That is his web site, if you do get sued, get a message to him.........tell him you are from creditboards. He will be able to give you some advice. But to answer your original question, if they do sue and if they get a judgement and if they know where you bank they can seize any bank account that they find. If you ever paid the original creditor with that bank account, then they have your banking info. It will not help to put all of your money in a savings account in that bank. You need to change banks, get a joint account with somebody else as primary. If you are married, you spouse is always a good idea. That way, HIS social security number is associated with the account, not yours. Let me know if you have any more questions. I will do my best to help.
