how do i get started?

I'm been hiding from my debts for too long. I'm now 25 and I can't keep pretending they'll magically go away one day. I accrued most of my debt on credit cards while I was in college. I had no family and that was the only way to pay for tuition, books, and day-to-day expenses. I live in California and believe the last time I could make any payments was no later than 1998 or 1999. I would like to know what steps I should take now to start the process of repairing my credit. Thank you.
