Federal taxes more than 3 years old CAN be discharged in BK provided that you DID file a return. State taxes MAY be dischargable, but you really need to check that with a BK attorney.

As for student loans, for the most part they cannot be discharged unless you can prove hardship - and that ain't easy. However, due to a recent decision by the Supreme Court, it may become easier to prove hardship for student loans and make them dischargable.
