When does bad credit 7 years start?

Hello,

I know that bad credit items stay on my credit report for 7 years. My question is when does the 7 year period start? And is there a way I can tell from looking at my credit report? Also, if a CA purchased a debt that is no longer on my credit report because it is past the 7 years, can they continue showing the debt?

Also, if I filed ch7 BK, and a debt wwas delinquent for say, 3 years already, does it come of in 4 years, or seven years after the BK?
