You are in a very debtor friendly state. They can not touch your house, can't garnish wages, and vehicles are protected to a certain $ amount. So, unless you have other assets that they can attach, you are judgement proof. PROTECT YOUR BANKING INFO NOW. If you have ever paid the original creditor with your current bank account, they have the info. Keep a minimal amount in that account, open a different account in a different bank. Internet bank might be a good idea since you both have debt and either or both of you could be sued. Don't keep much money in the bank, if they can convince a judge that you will withdrawal money in order to avoid pay the debt, they might be able to get a court order to freeze your accounts without notice and without judgement.
