Close the account, (have your husband do it in writing).Have him speak to their collection department and ask for someone in charge who can put you on a special program with reduced interest rates. If this is NOT your only "late" account, and you are having serious problems paying your essential bills like mortgage and utilities, then you might wish to consider BK. If your husband is the ONLY one who signed on the account, and your home is in joint ownership, they can not touch it, there is no wage garnishment in N.C. I suggest you speak to a consumer lawyer to see what your other options might be. There are 2 listed at the bottom of the NC page on my website. Whatever you do, DO NOT get suckered into a CCCS or"debt consolidation" or "credit repair" scam.
