You have the option of paying what you can afford. The way to do this is to write them a letter with an agreed to payment plan. Write a letter to your attorney general's office for your state and ask them to mediate. Whatever you do if you can avoid bankruptcy please try. Write letters to your mortgage company and make arrangements with them to make sure you keep your home out of foreclosure and write letters to all your creditors with a proposed payment plan. Send all correspondence by certified mail return receipt requested. Most of all keep the faith this too shall pass.
