CA offered settlement

I had sent a validation request letter to the CA a few weeks back. Received a letter from them asking for my assistance to help them validate (ie. provide any cancelled checks, police reports, etc) the account. Yesterday, received a settlement offer letter. They are now willing to settle for 50% of the debt, stop all collection activity, update credit agencies, etc. It seems the are obviously unable to validate. This is still within SOL. What would be the best way to proceed ?
