Pay what you can afford ?? Where did you get THAT fairtale ?? I'm sorry, but that just isn't going to fly. Creditors are under NO obligation to accept anything less than what you agreed to.

CC companies don't give a rat's patoot what your situation is, all they want is their money. They'd have you living out of a cardboard box under a bridge as long as they got paid. The hard truth is, most CC companies won't even CONSIDER putting you on a hardship plan until you're at LEAST 3 months behind.

The AG's office, in general isn't going to get involved in individual consumer issues and I'd be REAL surprised if they did any kind of 'mediation'.

The mortgage company MAY be more willing to work with you, but you definitely have to ask - and do so in writing.
