Anyone try to negotiate with OC for lower pay-off?

Has anybody been sucessful at getting a CC paid in full for less than the full amount? I'm almost 4 payments behind to Capitol One and CitiAdvantage and will be getting a chunk of cash in a couple of months. Not enough to payoff both but certainly enough to negotiate a lower payoff on both and then close them. What is the best way to do this? Who would I talk to do this?
