AL is NOT a community property state. If BOA truly has your mother listed as an AUTHORIZED USER, then they can NOT force her to pay the debt, she is NOT liable for it. BOA would first have to prove that your mother used the account (must have signed charge slips) and MAYBE she would be liable for those charges ONLY.

AU's have no legal liability for the debt. AU or not, the estate of the deceased is responsible for paying the debts. If your father left no estate, then BOA is sh** outta luck !!
