Yeah I'm sure it was charged off..when i called Chase in 01' they didnt direct me to anyone or anything..they just said "we cant help you because we no longer have that account" and I told them the tactics the first law office were using and they apologized and told me to file a complaint with the FTC..so I'm guessing if they were using a CA they wouldnt of recommended that.
Plus the lady said she had no idea who had the account then. The letter I got today says "we have been authorized on behalf of our client Chase Manhattan Bank to settle the account for $5393"...but when they first called me yesterday they said "Midland Credit has retained us for the action to collect"....and said nothing about Chase until I asked. So I really dont know who the hell the account belongs to..I sent a C&D to the first Law Office back in 01'..and never heard another thing until yesterday and saw that Midland had been reporting on my CR for the past six months, they never contacted me at all and they dont show up as recent inquires on my credit report for the past six months so they never even ran my credit...now im getting confused..haha.
