Get a copy of all three of your credit reports, snail mail. The CR will give you the date of charge off, and it should tell you when the account was first reported to be 30 days past due. UNLESS, this is more than 7 years old, in which case it definitely is SOL because I don't know of any state that has an SOL (for open account) longer than 7 years.

CRAs are required to report correct info. Since the original creditor can not verify, they should delete. Also, dispute any old addresses off your credit report before disputing the entry, that will make it easier.
