My son had the State Dept of Renveue put a freeze on his account for a specific dollar amount. Anything over that he can take money in and out. The bank in Arizona explained to him that the creditor puts a freeze on the bank account for a certain dollar amount--not just a blank amount, but a specific dollar amount. Then paperwork has to be completed before the bank surrenders that money to the creditor. Be very careful about trying to cash checks if your account is under the amount the creditor has frozen--your account is used as the basis to cash the check and you'll risk losing that check to the creditor. Be very careful. I understand that some of the pay day loan places will cash checks for a charge but that the charge is usually a hefty sum.
