It is not legal for an attorney to give individual case law to individuals online. They just can't do it. Can you imagine a CA pretending to be somebody in need and then making a ton of trouble for the attorney who tries to help. There are boundries. Attorneys have no choice but to honor the boundries.
As for your other question, hiring an attorney for 300.00 an hour for a 5K debt. Well, first of all, attorneys are not that expensive, secondly, the greedy CA will violate the law, violate FDCPA, but they will not give us a payment plan that we can afford. They want our banking info so that they can literally steal from us. They want to take anything of value that they can, legal or not, if they can get away with it. Attorneys make sure that things are done legally, that's all. That usually means the CA looses. I know not everyone can afford an attorney, CAs count on that too. Why do you think we get so much garbage on this site. They hate us because we must be doing some good here.
