Chase Manhattan

I've been posting about a charge-off I have with Chase from 01'... on the credit report it reads
"Chase NA"....Well now on my report there is a open collection from Chase Manhattan opened in 9/03 for $8200....the Chase NA account says "charge off" and "sold to lender"..the original Chase NA charge off was for $6800....Now I have Midland and SOme attorney office trying to collect on the Chase Manhattan account, which has a different account# from the Chase NA account. I've never had a Chase Manhattan card...but I did have a Chase NA card...are these two companies one in the same..if so why is one reading "charge-off in 01'" and one reading "open for collection in 03'" with two different amounts? I know this sounds confusing but I dont get it myself.
