Documentation by different CA??

On 1/28/04 I sent a validation letter (WhyChat's)to "Lake Valley Retrivevals, Inc." and never received a response.
On 5/20/04 I recivied a letter from "unifund" (a different CA) stating that they "enclosed the documentation I requested" and sent only a copy of a billing from the OC.
What's up with this?
Should I send the new CA a validation too?
Should I just let it slide and see what happens?
Anyone have any info on either one of these CA'S?? I live in Calif. and am not sure on the SOL of this account. It doesn't show on my credit report, nor does the CA'S Thanks for the help, in advance.
