paying them off will keep you from being sued. it will not help your credit. if you settle..be sure to get in writing BEFORE YOU PAY anything that it is paid in full and hopefully a delete on your credit reports. good luck! if the diff is over 600$, make sure you receive a 1099 tax thing from the OC. if you settle and dont have this all in writing, they will simply sell the balance off to another CA. to pay or not is up to you. paid charge offs , however, are not better on the credit scores.
