I would not do anything by phone. I would do it in writing. Certified/return receipt. Don't give this clown any of your banking info. Pay with money order. Don't disclose assets. Don't tell them where you work. They will lie and threaten, the phone is their tool. This is probably a CA using attorney letterhead. (they can pay for that). So, I think you are dealing with a CA, is this attorney in your state? Keep a papertrail of everything. WATCH CALLER ID and let the machine pick up. The biggest mistake most consumers make is to actually talk to these clowns.
