RE: Experian Credit Bureau -- Credit Manager online access to credit report account.

I signed up for this subscription for a year and it recently expired. I wasn't able to afford to sign right up again, so I checked my account and noticed my credit card was still listed there but with an expiration date on my card of 2003. (I did receive a new card in 2003 for that account upon the expiration with the same # but with a new date.)

Experian sent me an e-mail saying my account was cancelled on 5/29. On 6/5 they sent me another e-mail stating to disregard all previous e-mails and that my account would be reinstated. At this point I went to the site to check but I could not sign in as a member. It stated I needed to sign up and pay. When I ran a report request a charge for payment of $9.95 came up, so I figured they could not reinstate my account afterall because of the expired date on my card.

On 6/7 they hit my checking account via my credit card for their annual fee of $89.95. Needless to say, I didn't have much cash in that particular account the other day and it sent everything coming in into overdrafts. I was charged for 3 overdrafts at $26 each in one day. Now I'm way over in my account for the $89.95, plus $78 for overdrafts. This sent my account into a tailspin.

I called them and told them I wanted them to pay for all of these charges and credit my account the $89.95, plus the fees my bank charged me. They told me it would take 7-10 days to credit my account on the cancellation and now I have to fax letters with the overdraft charges to them with no real guarantee they will pay it. They can take the $ out in 1 day, but it takes 7-10 to get it back? To me, this is outright stealing! I figure now I'm in for weeks and weeks of aggravation, battle and a lot of my time with this company for straightening out what they did and getting my money back.

Can they charge an expired credit card? Is there anything illegal about this? Anyone have this nightmare happen? Would you do anything beyond fighting for the $$ back for cancelling the account and trying to get the overdraft fees? I'm so tired of companies just taking advantage and whacking your credit card for $ they aren't authorized for.

Another fact ... the terms and conditions stated that my account would be automatically renewed upon expiration. Didn't their e-mail to me stating they were cancelling my subscription void out the T&C agreement, as well as charging to an expired card?

Help, please ... I'm pretty tired of this kind of crapola! I want to do something more than just get my money back. I'm really sick of companies stealing in this way! They never even gave me a chance to respond to their last e-mail, they just hit my account. All of this is wrong!
