evictions/anyone know how long they remain?

does anyone know how long a eviction stays on rental history? is it up to the town..state...law...? so unfair..in some towns one is evicted after one is 5 days late. literally. no questions..no nothing. bam--your out. and screwed for many years. grrrrrrr. pardon adjectives. i wish the rich landlord CEOs would only care...or get themselves thrown out sometime.
