I've been disputing the same incorrect account with all three agencies. I wrote letters once a month stating the reason for my dispute and why the account should be removed. It took me about 6 months of steady letters. Every response to my letter was in some generic form, not really addressing my problem.
Then suddenly Equifax deleted the account so i sent copies of that to other two. Experian quickly deleted it; i'm still working on Transunion.
Each of my letters said the same thing but i kept addressing how the info they report must be accurate. Then when Equifax deleted it i wrote letters saying they all have the same guidelines and if Equifax deleted the account then they had to as well.
Write Them as soon as you get a response from them to your previous letter. If it goes longer then 4 weeks since you've sent something and heard nothing from them, write again. This was what i did and the account they removed was for over $6,000.00 and now it's gone!
